How to identify the correct draglink for any vehicle

How to identify the correct draglink for any vehicle.

Hydrosteer has an enormous range of draglinks available.  We can also make a draglink to a sample provided. That being said identifying the correct draglink for any particular application can be challenging because of the many different truck and axle combinations as well as the pure range of heavy vehicles on Australian roads.

Often Hydrosteer can work from either an OEM or aftermarket part number to identify your draglink, this is the easiest option but not always available.

If we don’t recognize the number or one is not available we can still identify the correct draglink by using the following information;

Vehicle Make, Model, Year and the axle type installed.

To help confirm the correct draglink has been selected often we need to measure the length and the number of bend and approximate position of the bends. The length is measured from the centre of ball joint to centre of ball joint in a straight line. This might sound crude but it is surprisingly accurate.

How do I measure the draglink?

Measuring a draglink is very simple. Just measure in a straight line between the center of one ball joint to the center of the other ball joint.

The number or bends

The other key piece of information is the number of bends in the draglink. In the above example it is 1 bend, so we are looking for a draglink 670mm C:C, with one bend.

Hydrosteer’s draglinks are typically adjustable on both ends. So don’t worry if the measurement is 15-20mm different to the draglink we are recommending. This is well within the typical adjustment allowance.

So that is “How to identify the correct draglink for any vehicle”. We hope that this helps and feel free to give us a call at any time for more help or information about our range of draglinks.
