Damaged Seal Bores

Happy new year and welcome to 2015.

We wanted to start the year by briefly discussing a problem we see regularly.

Seal bores damaged by levering out seals are a major cause of leaks in steering gears.
The seals are under pressures of up to 7 bar or 100 Psi.

Damage to the seal bore, as per the input shaft seal retainer pictured below will cause a leak which can not be fixed by replacing seals.

When replacing seals take care to prevent score marks on the bores.

If you are unsure, need some advice or parts for R.H. Sheppard, TRW, Z.F.,JKC, Aisin Seiki or Koyo steering gears call us on 1300 010 338  or Contact Us.
